A New (Old) Period

WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME AGAIN…

The other day one of the relative newcomers to the shop, Michael, brought up a fairly impressive collection of American Civil War miniatures to run a demo game of the ACW using the Johnny Reb III rules.

Doug, Todd, Nick and Michael played a great looking game on one of the terrain boards – nothing special, just an introductory game that was representational of the period and the rules.

Part of the reason for the demo is to gage the interest in us bringing a wider selection of Civil War miniatures and maybe adding it to our historical nights for scheduled games.

By all accounts, everyone had a great time. I received several reports on the subtlety of mistakes made and how they cost/gave the game. A couple of the guys are already putting together their initial army lists and subsequent miniature requirements. Given this, we have decided to broaden the selection of our ACW figures and to begin construction more terrain for those games.

Hopefully we will have even more battle reports from the campaigns that raged through the eastern US during that period.
