THE POLES & NATO CONTINUE TO RETREAT
The Saturday before last we had some great games in the shop. In the big fight of the day, George, Mike, Dave and Jason were playing out the next scenario of the Poles vs. the Russians (circa 1990's). They have been using the Cold War Commander rules and 6mm micro armor and had both in play once again.
I believe the scenario this time was the Poles have taken up defensive positions to cover the American withdrawl after the last battle. The Russians were coming full bore to apply as much pressure as possible on the americans as they retreated.
The Poles had positioned themselves perfectly on a ridgeline overlooking the expected path of retreat for the Americans. The russians were coming on fast, but here is where it got a little strange. The American commander, instead making haste across the only brisge in the sector to the Polish side, he decided to mount an aggressive defense on the far side of the river.
The net result was the horrendous slaughter of American forces on the opposite river bank from the Polish positions, who were in turn unable to support the American allies. With the Americans routed, and the Russian tank hordes now flooding on to the table, the Poles were force to concede that the battle was lost and to withdraw themselves.
I believe the next installment of this campaign in set for Sat. the 29th, although I am not sure what the exact scenario will be.
HORDES OF THE THINGS - FROM FAR AWAY
While there were a few other games going on as well, on of the most interesting ones was between two necomers to the shop (Howard and George - sorry if I got the names wrong guys; I am terrible with names) who had driven down from Duluth, MN. They had come down to learn some more about playing HOTTS, and ended up playing a couple of close games against each other.
They said they were interested in joining in on our campaign days for HOTTS. Now with just a couple of more participants we can start holding them on a regular basis1
Well, enough rambling. Until next time...
Cheers!
