HERE COME THE SWAMPFOLK AGAIN...
A week or two ago Nick and I managed to get in a couple of games of Hordes of the Things, in an attempt to tweak our armies for the campaign. Nick brought his nasty swampfolk army (it looks really cool, but it is too hard to kill all of his hordes). In the first game I was fighting him with my elven army.
In that first game my elves managed to get the best of Nick's hordes. He was trying to mount a flanking assault on my stronghold with his huge reptilian behemoths. The hordes he left guarding his other flank were not quite able to hold back the bulk of the elvish army including the centaur cavalry - which is a good thing, as I only had a pair of Griffon flying units protecting my stronghold. Fortunately, I was able to roll up his flank and force his behemoths to wheel and face my army. Shortly thereafter his behemoths fell and the fight was over.
The second game my human noble army took its turn trying to stop the swampies. This time my fire elemental behemoth and mounted knight cavalry made pretty short work of his spear wielding frogmen and supporting hordes on the far flank. At the same time my wizard, protected by a wall of spearmen, harrassed and destroyed his hordes oin the other flank. In the end, the humans were able to drive the swampies back.
Next time I will have to use my famed "Arctic Army" (giants, mamoths, snow dwarves and more) and maybe the halfling woodland army to get them ready for the campaign as well.
Until next time...
Cheers!
