SKIRMISHING SIDEWAYS
The other day Chris L. and I fought a little sci-fi skirmish game at the shop. We were using the generic Combat Cards so we could use any figures. Chris used his Starship Trooper models, while I broke out some of my AT-43 models.
We decided to fight the battle on a 4’x 4’ section of the awesome trench terrain that Chris donated to the store. Instead of fighting in a standard fashion – with a defender in the trenches and an attacker approaching the position – we decided to fight sideways across the board. This made it extremely interesting, with troops running down the length of the trenches, bunker firing ports facing the wrong way, etc.

In the end we had a great game! Fragmentation and smoke grenades were flying, heavy weapons were kept pinned down and crazed squaddies rushed their foes for hand-to-hand combat. We are definitely going to try it again and maybe (we say it all the time, but hopefully this time it will stick) even put together a small campaign game of it. Time will tell…
Until next time, enjoy the pictures!
