Well, it has been a while since my last entry. We have been very busy around the store, and I have had a lot of projects at home as well.. Anyways, we have been playing a lot of the new
Cold War Commander (
modern combat from Korea on – including the Arab/Israeli wars) rules from the
Blitzkrieg Commander family of rules. The basic mechanisms are the same (
command & control, hits & suppression, etc.) but now things like helicopters, ATGM’s and such have been factored in. The result is the most playable set of modern rules I have ever encountered that still give very realistic results.
Everyone has really taken a liking to the rules – in fact we have no less than 6+ people building 1980’s cold war armies in 6 mm (
micro armor) scale. We have been playing a game almost every Saturday night at the shop. Unfortunately I have only had my camera phone available for pictures (
I will remember the real camera one of these days) but here is a taste of the games:
So far the Soviets have won pretty much every battle - their offensive into western Europe has gone well – but soon NATO may actually be able to take a stand and stop the red tide!
Hopefully, I will be able to get some better shots of our upcoming games and may even be able to flesh them out with a little bit of a battle report too!
Until then…
Cheers!
Dan
