A couple of weeks ago we held our first Warhammer 40K Tournament at the shop. It was definitely a real success!

We had 10 players that, by sheer coincidence, split roughly equally between Tau and Space Marine armies (to their credit their were two more original players - one with a Chaos army and one with Necrons). Armies were 1000 points with any legal Grand Tournament list being allowed.

The tournament went four rounds, each round being one hour. By the end of it all of the players were exhausted but appeared to have a great time. Top spot ($50 gift certificate) went to Chris G., second-place (another gift certificate) to Adam K., third (another gift certificate) to Tom and fourth (another gift certificate) to Robb S. There was also a random drawing for a "Art of Warhammer 40K" book which went to Will, and everybody walked away with some vehicle damage dice.

We are going to have another tournament Saturday, March 3, at the shop. This time it will be 1,500 point armies with three rounds for the day. It will require pre-registration (as this last one did), so look for the sign-up on the Forum or at the store. Who knows, maybe I'll even dust off my Space Marines for a few friendly games that day.

A quick entry today - we played a great game of DOOM the Boardgame at the shop last night.

It was my first time playing it and I found it very enjoyable. Of course, it probably helped that Chris L. was running the game and he had intricately painted all of the pieces that come with the game.

Unfortunately I only had my camera phone with me so I could only snap low quality pictures, but at least it gives you some idea of how cool it looked.
